Chapter-wise weightage and study hours
Weightage is the chapter's share of past-paper questions, normalised within its subject; hours are a first pass without revision.
No reliable weightage exists for this exam's topics yet, so weights follow the official syllabus structure. Treat them as a planning aid.
Headings = official MPSC State Services prelims syllabus (GS: 7 heads incl. Maharashtra history, geography, polity; CSAT incl. Marathi/English comprehension). GS subject shares = mid-points of PW's 2025 paper analysis (CA 20-25, History 15-18, Geography 15-17, Polity 15-18, Economy 10-12 questions) x 2 marks; Environment/Science split the remainder. Split inside each subject is our estimate (*). CSAT is qualifying: weights are practice priority.
2027 pattern: optional subjects ABOLISHED (MPSC press note 25 Jun 2026) - Mains 2027 onward = Marathi + English (qualifying, 300 each, 25%) + Essay + GS I-IV (250 each). The Mains of the 2026 cycle (Oct-Nov 2026) still has 2 optional papers (26 subjects); not modelled here. GS headings follow MPSC's UPSC-style descriptive syllabus, which adds 'some weightage to Maharashtra' in GS I-III; Maharashtra chapters are listed explicitly. Equal weights within each paper scaled to its marks (*). The official MPSC syllabus PDF was not reachable (JS-only site); headings taken from coaching reproductions of it (Drishti).
* Estimated weight: no reliable past-paper figure exists for this chapter, so the number is our estimate from the paper structure.

Frequently asked questions
Which chapters carry the most weight in MPSC?
Going by our compiled weightage, the heaviest chapters are Maharashtra Current Affairs and State Schemes, National Current Affairs, International Current Affairs, Constitution, Union and State Government, Panchayati Raj and Urban Governance in Maharashtra. They are worth starting early, but past papers vary from year to year, so plan to cover the whole syllabus.
Is this MPSC weightage official?
No. Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) publishes the syllabus, not chapter weightage. These numbers come from analyses of previous years' papers, so treat them as a guide to priority, not a promise of what will be asked.
How many hours does the MPSC syllabus take?
Our first-pass estimate adds up to about 1060 hours of study, before revision and mock tests. At 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, that is roughly 6.8 months. Daily Tayyari replaces these defaults with your actual pace after the first week or two.
Is Daily Tayyari free, and does it work in Hindi?
Yes. It is free with no ads and no payment; you sign in with Google only so your plan is saved. You can switch between Hindi and English at any time, and chapter names are shown in both.
