Chapter-wise weightage and study hours
Weightage is the chapter's share of past-paper questions, normalised within its subject; hours are a first pass without revision.
No reliable weightage exists for this exam's topics yet, so weights follow the official syllabus structure. Treat them as a planning aid.
Section marks (8 x 25) are OFFICIAL (WBCS 2024 Scheme & Syllabus, the latest published; WBCS 2025 Advt 03/2025 is only an indicative notice so far). Topic split inside each section is our estimate (*). West Bengal content: geography section is officially 'with special reference to West Bengal'; Bengal Renaissance/regional history is our addition (*) because it falls under the 19th-century resurgence part of the National Movement.
Old WBCS scheme is still in force (latest published scheme: WBCS 2024, Advt 08/2024, uploaded 14 Nov 2025). No Essay paper; GS papers are MCQ. Optional subject (38 choices) only for Group A/B; Group C/D candidates skip it. Language paper I is one of Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali; marks count. Chapter split is our estimate (*), except the official sub-lists for Environment and Economy topics.
* Estimated weight: no reliable past-paper figure exists for this chapter, so the number is our estimate from the paper structure.

Frequently asked questions
Which chapters carry the most weight in WBPSC?
Going by our compiled weightage, the heaviest chapters are Letter Writing (150 words) / Report Drafting (200 words), Precis Writing, Composition, Translation from English into the chosen language, Letter Writing (150 words) / Report Drafting (200 words). They are worth starting early, but past papers vary from year to year, so plan to cover the whole syllabus.
Is this WBPSC weightage official?
No. Public Service Commission, West Bengal (WBPSC) publishes the syllabus, not chapter weightage. These numbers come from analyses of previous years' papers, so treat them as a guide to priority, not a promise of what will be asked.
How many hours does the WBPSC syllabus take?
Our first-pass estimate adds up to about 970 hours of study, before revision and mock tests. At 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, that is roughly 6.2 months. Daily Tayyari replaces these defaults with your actual pace after the first week or two.
Is Daily Tayyari free, and does it work in Hindi?
Yes. It is free with no ads and no payment; you sign in with Google only so your plan is saved. You can switch between Hindi and English at any time, and chapter names are shown in both.
